Before hiring managers take time to scan over hundreds of applicants' resumes, including yours, they scan them into an APPLICANT TRACKING SYSTEM!
An #ATS scanner is software that reviews #resumes for specific words that they call #KEYWORDS. The ATS divides your resume into different resume sections: Work Experience, Education, Skills, Certifications, Languages, etc. then checks to see if those sections contain the correct keywords.
To better explain we will demonstrate through an example.
Let's say that you want to apply to an awesome new position that you saw posted on Indeed for #MarketingManager.
Your #resumesummary writes:
“Results-oriented marketing manager with 5+ years of experience in digital design and brand management. Unwavering attention to detail, inspiring leadership, and strong communication skills.”
ATS reads:
“Marketing Manager”
“5+ years of experience”
“Digital Design”
“Attention to detail”
“Strong communication skills”
Then, matches it to their list of requirements:
CHECK: Marketing Manager
CHECK: 5+ years of experience
CHECK: digital design
CHECK: communication skills
NOT CHECK: Analytical skills
CHECK: attention to detail
If the ATS doesn’t find the basic list of requirements and keywords, it’s AUTOMATICALLY DISCARDED!
If it does, then it’s ranked by #relevance meaning the best resume goes on top of the recruiter’s pipeline!
This is why you MUST look at the #jobposting you are #applying for before you go and start sending your resume to #jobs you are interested in!
Brand On The Brain ensures that your resume will rank you near the top of the recruiter's pipeline!
